Outlines. One summer day – a crow – thirsty – found a pitcher with a little water – beak could not reach it – picked up pebbles -water rose to the brim – drank water and quenched its thirst.

Story- It was a hot summer day. A crow felt thirsty.

He flew over many places in search of water but could not find a single drop anywhere.

He was about to grow unconscious because of fatigue and thirst.

Just then, the crow saw a pitcher. His heart beamed with joy at the sight of the pitcher.

He flew to it and sat on its brim to quench his thirst.

As he looked into the pitcher the crow found that the pitcher contained only a little water.

The crow did its best to reach the water. Unluckily, his beak could not reach the water.

He tried again and again but met with the same fate.

He tried to overturn the pitcher but he was not successful.

The water tying at the bottom of the pot was in a way teasing him. He felt defeated and disappointed.

The crow muttered to himself, ’It is a pity that I cannot raise the level of water in the pot.

The crow cudgeled his brain to find a way out of his trouble. He looked around helplessly.

Just then he saw a few pebbles littered around nearby. He at once picked up a pebble in his beak.

He flew to the pot and dropped it into the pot. In this way, he dropped scores of pebbles into the pitcher.

He felt delighted to see that the level of water had come up to the neck of the pot.

His hard labor had borne fruit. The crow drank water to his heart’s content and quenched his thirst. He flew away satisfied.

Moral : 

• Necessity persuades people to make inventions.
